Fun times

I felt like I needed a break from my drawings with all their intricate details, so I decided to “throw” some paint around. Good fun!

Even painted my sneakers…accidentally.

These “Ties” were the stands from the back of frames that I had removed. I kept them because I thought they might turn into interesting artworks one day.

I’m pleased with how well they turned out, considering the unusual surface and shape I painted on.

Current Projects

Here are two of my pastel bird drawings I am currently working on.

(the photos were just taken on my phone)

Australian White-Winged Blue Wren

Australian Red-Backed Wren (Female)

When I’ve finished these two, I intend to draw the male Australian Red-Backed Wren and sell the two (male+female) as a pair in matching frames. Or get them framed together in a larger single frame.

One of my most recent drawings

I am really enjoying using soft pastel at the moment, and this little still life is a mix of different pictures that I saw and my imagination. It certainly is becoming my favourite medium to use in regards to drawing.

I was going to put in a little vase, but not only was I struggling to draw it, but it just looked wrong and didn’t suit. So I cut it out and added another fruit instead.

Really happy with the result.

Another artwork of mine

Here’s another painting I have done sometime over the last few months.

I had some very large high quality paper, and at the time I didn’t have any canvases so I wanted to see if acrylic paint would work on the thick paper.

I’ve have had this idea in my head for a couple of years now, and finally ended up putting it in paint on paper, instead of canvas. I’m happy with the result.

I thought I would also show what I looked like after doing this painting. I have never used so many brushes for one artwork!!!!

Latest works

Here are some artworks I have done recently:

A Part of Me
A Part of Me

I created this piece as an autobiography in images, rather than words. The title: “A Part of Me” says it all.

The hand is drawn using graphite, and the paint splotches is gauche.

(The official image won’t be up for a few weeks.)

Here is another artwork:

European Robin
European Robin

This drawing I did with soft pastel. It is the first bird I have ever drawn, so I was really pleasantly surprised with how well it turned out.

(The official image of this artwork also will not be up for a few weeks.)

And finally, a sketch I did a couple of days ago:

This was simply done with greylead pencils.

“Just think, you’re here not by chance, but by God’s choosing.

His hand formed you and made you the person you are.

He compares you to no one else – you are one of a kind.

You lack nothing that His grace can’t give you.

He has allowed you to be here at this time in history to fulfil His special purpose for this generation.”
